Intermediate Ballet will be the newest addition to JBC after school programming in fall of 2023. This program is for ages 12-18 years of age and is a great way for teens to learn ballet terminology and technique through the execution of barre work, center, and across the floor exercises. Teens will have a clear understanding of body alignment, movement quality, carriage of upper body, and flexibility. This professionally-led dance class provides expert instruction to students who are training for professional careers in dance, as well as beginners and those who are interested in simply experiencing the joy and benefit of dancing. Intermediate Ballet offers a nurturing and structured environment that encourages individuality, creative expression, and an appreciation for the art of dance.

Meet the instructor!
Jordan Thompson
Jordan Thompson began her training at Vostrikov’s Academy of Ballet in Winchester, VA from ages 3-17. She studied Vaganova classical ballet, pointe, jazz, lyrical, and modern. She has performed lead roles with VAB and Virginia Youth Ballet such as The Witch in Hansel and Gretel, Clara, Arabian Queen, Dew Drop, and Snow Queen in The Nutcracker among many other roles. She was able to share her love of dance as a teacher from 2016 to 2018 at TAP ETC! in Front Royal, VA, where she taught advanced ballet, pointe, and jazz. As an instructor, Jordan's teaching philosophy centers around fostering a nurturing and inclusive environment for all learners. Her studio welcomes students of all abilities and experiences, with a focus on cultivating a deep sense of joy and appreciation for the art of dance.
