About our Programming

The main focus of the JBC is to provide affordable opportunities in music, performing arts, and STEAM. In 2010, The JBC started offering afterschool programs Monday through Friday, which include: Floyd JAMS (Junior Appalachian Musicians), LEGO & Robotics Club, Blue Ridge Strings, Computer Club, Acting Out!, Musical Theatre for Teens, and Improv. These programs cover a variety of interests such as old-time music, classical music, engineering, coding, theatre, dance, and musical theatre.

The public school system recognizes the difference made by the JBC and has shown their support by providing county-wide transportation to our programs. Students also receive a snack before their instruction, which is made available through Feeding America.

Covid-19 Update

The JBC cares about the health of our students and their families. Due to the pandemic, we have made a few changes to our policies:

  • All parents/guardians will remain in their vehicle when picking up their child. An instructor will walk the students to their parent/guardian's vehicle to reduce the amount of traffic inside the buildings. This is also an opportune time to ask any questions you might have for the instructors!

  • Our mask mandates are under continuous review from our board. As of right now, masks are required inside our buildings.

  • Because masks are required for classes, we will take 15-30 minute "mask breaks" socially distanced outside. We will have our snack during our "mask break" as well.

  • The June Bug Center will be thoroughly cleaned after each day. This includes but is not limited to: both restrooms, main desk, light switches, door handles, glass doors, and any equipment used for classes.

We appreciate the community's support during these hard times. This will be updated further if changes have been made. Thank you! :)

Tuition

The June Bug Center is a 501(c)(3) that depends on individual donors, foundations, and program tuition to stay in operation. We are very fortunate to be able to provide these opportunities at an affordable rate for the community.

We want every family to be part of our programs regardless of their household income. The June Bug Center has a reduced tuition option that is on a sliding scale. Please call our office at 540-745-6550 to see if you qualify for our reduced tuition. You may then be required to fill out our Sliding Scale Tuition Form. *Please note that not all programs/camps are the same pricing.
