About the event
#MeToo Mozart 1776-2019 is a two-part classical concert program. Presenting vocal excerpts from operas Don Giovanni and The Marriage of Figaro as well as original work for voice, narrative, percussion and singing bowl, Soprano Alicia Windsong Diamond of Abingdon VA collaborates with pianist Sandra Smith and percussionist Jim Best of Floyd to present an exploration of gender, class, and social life.
Mozart and his librettist, DaPonte, use humor, drama, and masterfully crafted character development to highlight the social, gender, and economic disparities of the late 1700s. In the second part of our program, Alicia Windsong Diamond’s story of Little Spark presents a magical, metaphorical tale to inspire and reawaken the joy and purpose within each of us.Doors will open at 1:30 at The June Bug Center on Sunday the 29th at 2PM. This is the closing event of FloydPRIDE 2019.
Tickets are 12$ online, and 15$ at the door. Reception and refreshments to follow.
