    The Blue Ridge Strings Program is introducing the study of classical music on stringed instruments to students ages 8-18. Through hands-on instruction and creative enrichment, the program supports growth and development by instilling a deep appreciation for music and specific skill in performance. As the program grows, it will expand into a small chamber group to perform classical music in Floyd. For students aged 8 years old to 18 years old. Camp Schedule: Each camp runs for one week and meets 3 hours per day. Snack Break: There is a 20-minute snack break at the halfway point each day. Snacks are generously provided by Feeding Southwest Virginia. Because of this partnership, options are limited—students with dietary restrictions are encouraged to bring their own snack if needed. Pick-Up Policy: A parent or approved pickup person must come inside to pick up their student. Alternate arrangements must be made in advance with the program coordinator and require a signed note.     Students will spend the week learning a variety of role playing games that will inspire their imaginations and offer opportunities for creative problem solving, narrative exploration and improvised adventure. Player’s will embody an assortment of unusual characters with unique motivations, work together as a team to achieve narrative goals and help guide the stories with their own creative visions. Camp Schedule: Each camp runs for one week and meets 3 hours per day. Snack Break: There is a 20-minute snack break at the halfway point each day.   • Henna Design

    Our henna designs class will give your child a lesson in the culture surrounding henna art and designs. We will learn how to affordably make henna and build our own unique mandalas. Students will finish the class with their very own starter henna bag and the list of ingredients we used! Camp Schedule: Each camp runs for one week and meets 3 hours per day.   • Robotics Camp

    Students will use Mindstorm's EV3 curriculum to design, build, program, and test robots to do a variety of tasks. The Robotics program will engage students to become independent learners and develop skills in collaboration, communication, creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving.   • Jitterbugs

    Jitterbugs is the perfect way for children to learn about dance, make new friends, and create lasting memories. Designed for movers of all levels, our camps give students the opportunity to try a wide variety of styles! We strive to provide exceptional dance training in a welcoming, supportive atmosphere—promoting a strong work ethic, teamwork, and FUN! The styles of dance we aim to include: ballet, Jazz, Hip-Hop, Musical Theater, Lyrical, Contemporary, Creative Movement etc. For students aged 8 years old to 13 years old.   • Computer Camp

    Students will work on their own Piper computer for hands-on STEAM education. Each student will use their computer to go on Minecraft missions that will teach them how to build circuits that control LEDs, buzzers, and a variety of sensors. Students will also spend time learning to code using Pipercode. Camp Schedule: Each camp runs for one week and meets 3 hours per day.   • Junior Engineers

    Students will learn how microcontrollers are used to control devices such as LEDs, temperature and humidity sensors, infrared motion detectors, ultrasonic distance sensors, active and passive buzzers, water level detectors, and a variety of other sensors. Such sensors make up the Internet of Things (IoT) that is extending the traditional Internet. Students will build circuits containing these devices and write code that will make the devices work. They will program in PictoBlox, a visual programming tool and Python, one of the most popular and widely used programming languages.   • Computer Literacy for Adults

    Held every Wednesday from 6:00 to 7:00, Computer Literacy for Adults is an After Work program for ages 18 and up. Does your computer sometimes intimidate you? Does it sometimes cause you to scratch your head? Does it sometimes even scare you? If you answered yes to one or more of these questions, we have a course that might interest you! The course will be conducted in an informal setting by two non-judgmental instructors. We will not adhere to a rigid syllabus but will cover such topics as: • A tour of the Windows 11 Desktop • Using the File Explorer to organize your photos, music, and documents • Choosing and using a browser • Becoming comfortable with email • Using your home wireless and wireless hotspots • Staying safe online • Getting the most out of search engines • Understanding and working with documents, spreadsheets, and presentations • Choosing and buying a computer If these topics pique your interest, who not consider joining us as we explore them together?   • Musical Theatre for Teens: Spring

    With the foundation in place, students will shift into full production mode, rehearsing for a full-scale production, to be performed the first two weekends of June 2026. From auditions to final bows, students will experience the entire production process while continuing to refine their skills and build lasting friendships. This Spring students will be working on: 🧽🎭 SpongeBob the Musical: Youth Edition 🎶🌈 Get ready to dive under the sea with one of the most joyful, high-energy musicals ever brought to the stage! SpongeBob the Musical: Youth Edition is a bold, colorful, ensemble-driven show packed with unforgettable music, dynamic choreography, and characters that let every performer shine. This class will guide students through the full musical theatre process — from learning vocals and choreography to developing characters and building confidence onstage — all while working together to bring the world of Bikini Bottom to life. With its message of friendship, optimism, and believing in yourself, this show is as meaningful as it is fun. Perfect for teens who love to sing, dance, act, and collaborate, this production is designed to challenge performers while celebrating creativity and teamwork. A strong ensemble is key to making this show truly spectacular, and we’re excited to build an incredible cast this spring. ✨ Big energy. ✨ Big heart. ✨ Big theatre experience.
