Service Description

Held every Friday from 3:30 to 5:30, Drama Society is designed for teens who want to dive deeper into the world of theatre—onstage or backstage. This class explores the foundations of theatre while giving students hands-on experience in a variety of theatrical disciplines. Throughout the session, students will study acting, explore different genres and styles, and learn essential behind-the-scenes skills including stagehand work, costume design, stage makeup, and basic set construction. This fall, Drama Society will produce Anne of Green Gables by Donna Hoke— adapted from L.M. Montgomery's beloved story of an imaginative, fiercely determined girl who finds her place in the world. At the end of the session, students will either perform in the production or serve on the crew, choosing the path that best matches their interests. Drama Society is a true catch-all for aspiring theatre students, offering a welcoming space to discover their strengths and build confidence. Please keep an eye on your emails, important information is shared regularly! Tuition is based on a sliding scale. Please see our tuition chart in our handbook to see if you qualify for our reduced tuition. If you would like to apply for reduced tuition, please complete the Reduced Tuition Application. For the 2026–2027 programming year, we’re introducing a “Pay It Forward” option as part of our semester tuition. By adding an additional $50, you directly support our scholarship fund and help ensure that the June Bug Center remains accessible to all students across the New River Valley.
