How the Night Works
Storytellers take the stage for a seven-minute story pulled from true tales, strange creatures, and local legends. Then the audience decides who wins.
Every ticket includes one vote. Additional votes are $5 each.
Cash prizes go to the top three storytellers of the night: $250 for first, $100 for second, and $50 for third.
Want to tell a story yourself? Storytellers are encouraged to sign up in advance, and spots are limited.
Opening the Evening: Appalachian Cryptids
Dr. Cory Higgs of Virginia Tech Appalachian Studies kicks things off with a talk on Appalachian cryptids and why we tell monster stories in the first place. If you've ever wondered why the mountains are so full of things that go bump in the night, this is your answer.

Why It Matters
