What Is DAF Giving Day—And Why It Matters for Arts and STEAM Education at JBC
You may have seen us talking about "DAF Giving Day" (October 8, 2026) and wondered what exactly that means. Here's the short version: it's one of the most impactful, and easiest, ways to support June Bug Center this year.
What Is a DAF, Anyway?
A Donor-Advised Fund (DAF) is essentially a charitable giving account. Many individuals and families set up DAFs through a sponsoring organization (often a community foundation or financial institution) to manage their charitable giving—contributing funds, getting a tax benefit at the time of contribution, and then recommending grants to nonprofits like June Bug Center whenever they choose.
DAF Giving Day is a designated day when DAF holders are encouraged to recommend a grant to a cause they care about—and when nonprofits like ours actively invite our community to consider directing some of that giving our way.
Why This Matters for a Nonprofit Like JBC
If you already have a Donor-Advised Fund, there's a good chance there are dollars sitting in it, already set aside for charitable giving, just waiting to be directed somewhere. DAF Giving Day is a reminder—and an invitation—to put those dollars to work for a cause close to home.
For us, that means real, direct impact:
Keeping tuition accessible: supporting our Reduced Tuition Sliding Scale so no family has to choose between rent and a robotics class
Funding materials and equipment: robotics kits, instruments, costumes, set pieces, and the everyday supplies that make hands-on learning possible
Supporting our instructors: the mentors who show up week after week to teach, direct, and coach
Expanding what we can offer: every grant recommended through a DAF helps us say "yes" to a new class, a new scholarship seat, or a new production
If You Have a DAF
If you or your family already manage a Donor-Advised Fund, recommending a grant to June Bug Center is simple—log in to your DAF provider's portal, search for June Bug Center, and recommend your gift.
Recommending a grant from your donor-advised fund is simple:
1. Log into your donor-advised fund.
2. Search for The June Bug Center for Arts & Education.
3. Recommend a grant.
If your DAF allows you to select a designation, unrestricted allows The June Bug Center to use your support where it is needed most.
